The Crema Fritta or (Cremini) is a recipe of Venetian origin that is prepared especially during the Carnival period, even if it is brought to the table whenever there is a leftover of custard.
Excellent served as a dessert after a meal as long as it is enjoyed hot.
Ingredients:
- 5 ounces sugar
- 2.5 ounces flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 liter of milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Grated rind of 1 orange
- 2 ounces chopped candied orange rinds
- Fine bread crumbs
Directions:
Beat eggs and sugar together and slowly add flour, milk, vanilla extract and orange rind, one ingredient at a time.
Pour into medium saucepan and bring to a slow boil while constantly stirring the mixture. Pour mixture onto a large greased cookie pan and let cool.
Cut into finger strips, dip into bread crumbs and fry in olive oil. Sprinkle them with powdered sugar and serve.
That’s it!
