SLOW COOKER CAJUN RIBS

So delicious and so easy for this fall off the bone rib recipe!

SERVES 4

1 RACK BABY BACK PORK RIBS

½ CUP WATER

1 TB PAPRIKA

2 TSP SALT

2 TSP GARLIC POWDER

1 TSP PEPPER

½ TSP CAYENNE

½ TSP CREOLE SEASONING

¼ TSP RED PEPPER FLAKES – crushed

1 CUP BARBEQUE SAUCE – your favorite

1 ONION – small, minced

1/3 CUP BROWN SUGAR – packed

½ TSP CREOLE SEASONING

½ TSP GARLIC POWDER – or to taste

METHOD:

  1. Mix the dry rub ingredients – paprika and salt – together in a bowl.
  2. Put the ribs on a cutting board, turn over so curved side is up, remove and discard the silver skin. You can do this by putting your finger under the middle edge on one side and pulling the silver skin up and away.
  3. Cut the ribs in a few smaller sections to fit easily in the slow cooker.
  4. With your hands, rub the dry (garlic powder, pepper, onion powder, oregano, cayenne, creole seasoning, red pepper flakes, brown sugar) rub on the ribs on both sides and place the ribs in the slow cooker fitted with a disposable cooker bag or in the slow cooker that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Use half of the barbeque sauce – (your favorite barbeque sauce, creole seasoning, garlic powder, minced onion) and spread all over both sides of the ribs. Save the rest of the sauce for later. Add the ½ cup of water around the ribs.
  6. Cook on low for 8 hours without opening the cover of the cooker during the cooking time.
  7. Remove, carefully from the cooker onto a platter. Pour or brush on the remaining barbeque sauce over the ribs.

NOTE: Serve with baked beans, corn on the cob and cole slaw.

BUON MANGIATA!
